Sewing Together A Quilted Picture of Success

There are many facets to the textile industry; and with more than 30 years of experience under his belt and the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, Jeff Pollack realized he needed a change.  Having worked himself up from sales manager to president at a cotton print house, he decided that it was time to cut loose and express himself creatively.  In 2003 he, along with partners Sy Garfinkel and Barry Gersten, founded Print Concepts, a design house producing quality fabrics for the quilting trade.

After its first successful year in the quilting field, Print Concepts has gained a reputation as a diverse and creative print house, thanks to the energy of Jeff Pollack.  Print Concepts has been a dream of his for years.  He recalls, "I always wanted to be able to express myself creatively.  Now I can apply my ideas on fabric.  Of course I get outside help.  But I can orchestrate the entire process, see my ideas come to life on finished cloth and I can then offer them to the home sewing trade.  This has been a very rewarding experience."

Selling to the independent quilt shops, the company's client locales span throughout the US, Canada, Europe and the Far East.  Selling mainly to distributors and independent quilt shops, Print Concepts strives to offer their customers the freshest looks and the most diversity possible.  "We want to stand out in the industry.  Our uniqueness comes from our creative artwork and patterns.  We produce very vibrant dimensional prints.  We have 350 new SKU's- of which we are extremely proud.  For a season we really cover the gamut by offering a tremendous number of options."  There are many sources of Pollack's inspirations.  However, he owes much of his ideas to world-renowned artists, such as Claude Monet.  "Monet's texture and depth of colors is brought into our fabrics.  The way I perceive and interpret a piece of artwork comes through in my fabric design.  It is my interpretation, the way I see it.  You have to remember that the quilter wants fabric designs for today and memories to remain forever."

As for the future, the company is at no loss for creative ideas, and looks ahead for its lines to continue growing.  Pollack adds, "We want more patterns and more artwork available to stores, as well as the size of our lines to increase.  We hope to offer quicker delivery, better in-store position, and greater efficiency in reorder fulfillment.  However, it will always be our creativity that will make us stand out from the rest.  That is how we would like it to be."
